Product Archive: Sales
Purpose and prerequisites
Product Archive: Sales adds sales dependencies to Product Archive Checks. It checks draft and sent quotations, plus confirmed sales orders with a remaining undelivered quantity. A sales finding appears alongside the base addon's stock and configuration findings in the same preflight and audit.
This helper depends on corvus_product_archive_guard and native Sales (sale_management). It is marked for automatic installation when its dependencies are present and the matching helper package is available. It declares no Enterprise-only dependency and creates no standalone menu or application. Install the build for the same Odoo major version as the base addon.
The workflow is source-reviewed for 19.0. Selected comparisons were made with other source versions; no runtime or archive test was performed.
Access and setup
The bridge adds Open Quotations / Sales Orders to the existing Product Archive Policies form. Its default is Warning, with Ignore and Block also available. Only Sales managers can change this field. The bridge gives Sales managers read/write access to existing policies for their permitted provider fields; it does not grant permission to create policies or edit the Inventory manager's core settings.
The base policy configuration menu remains restricted to Inventory managers. Have an administrator arrange an appropriate combined role or an authorised route to an existing policy. Inventory users run preflight; Inventory managers perform the archive. Sales authority alone does not grant archive rights.
Workflow
- Have the responsible managers select the sales severity on the company's applicable archive policy. Category-specific policies follow the base addon's closest-category rule.
- Open the product or variant and choose Archive Preflight. For draft or sent quotations, the bridge counts the ordered quantity. For confirmed sales orders, it calculates ordered minus delivered quantity, with negative remainders treated as zero, then converts to the product unit.
- Review Open quotation or sales order findings. A positive remaining quantity produces the configured severity. Open the accessible sales order from the finding, then cancel, complete, or replace the open line as appropriate to the business decision.
- Refresh preflight after the sales work changes. Other stock or configuration findings may remain even when the sales finding disappears.
- Use the base addon's Archive Eligible action. Warning products require Safe and acknowledged warnings and explicit acknowledgement. A sales Block, like any other blocker, cannot be bypassed by warning acknowledgement. Review Archive Audits afterward.
Practice scenario
In an authorised test database, add fictional product “Cedar Display Stand” to a draft quotation for five units and leave its stock at zero. With Open Quotations / Sales Orders set to Warning, preflight should show a five-unit sales dependency. Cancel the test quotation and refresh; that sales finding should disappear, though other dependencies can still prevent archive. This source-derived scenario was not executed.
Troubleshooting and limitations
A fully delivered confirmed sales quantity is excluded by this bridge, and cancelled orders are outside its selected states. That does not mean a product is safe overall: on-hand stock, reservations, open moves, and other bridges are evaluated separately.
Finding counts can summarize multiple lines or orders; a navigation link opens a representative accessible record. Restricted dependencies remain effective without granting the reader access to the sales order. The bridge does not cancel orders, substitute products, or remove historical sales lines automatically.
Versions and useful links
Qualified catalogue versions are 15.0, 16.0, 18.0, 19.0, and 20.0. Version 17.0 exists in source but is not a qualified live-demo pair here. The inspected older versions adapt quantity rounding and sales-unit fields; 20.0 changes access declarations. The remaining-quantity rule is present in the compared code, but secondary workflows were not fully reviewed.
Live Test — Odoo 19 is catalogue-qualified; no demo was launched. Choose the exact version in the Corvus catalogue.
